Beast from the East - Storm Emma

Storm Emma hit Ireland on the 28th of February. Schools were closed. Shops ran out of bread and milk. There was enough snow to build many snowmen. Temperatures went slightly below zero C. There was no public transport. People worked from home if they could. The country was shut down. Despite all the drama, people of Ireland made a great craic out of it! Below some picture of a rebel snowman and some funny pictures that were going around. Also, pictures of Bray seafront and the harbour.

Ted and I - small and far away

Here is us. Ted and I. We did not like this photo at all. I look blurred and he looks plastic. But sure look, this is the only photograph we have together. This will have to do.

Let's make wine... label

I do not normally produce labels for my wine. Mainly, because most of it is drunk by my friends before it makes into the bottles. This time around I decided to make a label. Wine was sweet and strong, and deceiving, hence the name. I have few other ideas for the labels: Entropy as  a measure of unpredictability of the state, or equivalently, of its average information content or Shanon

Garden Spring Clean

This time again. I took all the leaves out of the garden. Chopped the Christmas tree. It looks like good few plants survived the winter. We have some primroses, Easter lily, and many bulb flowers.

SpaceX - Don't Panic!

Today 6th of February Elon Musk's SpaceX launched Falcon heavy rocket with unusual payload. Elon sent his own roadster Tesla car into space. We were watching the launch live on the Youtube. Not only that but the car itself had cameras attached to it. We could watch live and object in space launched by a private company, epic. The guy in the car is called Starman. He is wearing SpaceX designed space suit. Starman is going to travel go pass Mars orbit and come back near (far) the Earth on the 22nd February 2019. He can be tracked here: http://www.whereisroadster.com/index.html

Library – Trinity College Dublin

We went to see the Book of Kells in Trinity College. The book exhibition is a-OK. But the Trinity College Library! I could spend all day there just looking at it. The ambience is very special.

The vanilla face - Gem

Here it is. I was minding my own business. Having my birthday that everybody forgot about, anyway. Went to Lidl and bought a good auld vanilla ice cream. Brought it home, made my cup of tea. Flip opened the plastic box... and what?! There he is staring at me! The Vanilla Face!

The National Maritime Museum of Ireland

The National Maritime Museum of Ireland is located in Mariners Church in Dun Laoghaire. I would highly recommend it. There some great exhibits, ship models, and drawings. Even the way it is in the church is very cool.

Kick Start New Year

I knew about swim in Bray on the New Year for some time. I even drove pass the sign on the day one time and thought - maybe next year. Many good things in my life happen by a chance. Those were the turning points in my life or just good memories. This was how I got first "real" job, found college, met my wife.

Here just by coincidence my brother in law was in town on the day. He said he wanted to go and take a part in Bray New Year's Day swim. By a chance he has seen it in the paper or on a poster. So, this is how I got to the sea on 1st January 2018.
